1Disconnect spark plug wire. If replacing old rope, measure and cut new rope to same length as the old. Tie a knot in the end of the rope and heat-seal end to prevent loosening. (If only replacing new handle on existing rope, tie a knot in current rope near the old handle & then cut-off old handle).
2Push the knot down through the “+” on the inside of the handle. Pull the rope completely down through the slot until it is tightly seated inside the handle. (If not replacing rope, skip to 4).
3Remove the recoil housing from engine. Rewind starter spring counterclockwise until tight. Install rope through the eyelet, tie a knot, and pull tight. (Consult your owner’s manual)
4Reconnect spark plug wire.
